Simple Past - to be - Positive Form
O simple past do verbo to be descreve algo ou alguém do passado.
Por exemplo:
Thomas was a student at this school. (Thomas foi um aluno nesta escola.)
O exemplo nos informa que Thomas foi, mas não mais é, um aluno na escola.
Forma Afirmativa do Simple Past do verbo “to be”:
I / he / she / it + was
We / you / they + were

Outros exemplos:
I was at school. (I am no longer in school)
Eu estava na escola. (Eu não mais estou na escola.)
Greg was in the restaurant an hour ago. (He is no longer in the restaurant).
Greg estava no restaurante uma hora atrás. (Ele não mais está no restaurante.)
We were sad. (We are no longer sad).
Estávamos tristes. (Não estamos mais tristes.)
They were at the beach. (They are no longer at the beach).
Eles estavam na praia. (Eles não mais estão na praia).
The dog was on the bed. (He is no longer on the bed).
O cão estava na cima. (O cão não mais está na cama).
